A look into the step by step process...
Timelapse of a 3 hour digital painting
Here is a two hour "speed painting" screen capture video I did recently. I use photo refs usually for digital paintings- or just imagination!
Glazing technique
Glazing is a traditional physical painting technique where first one paints in greyscale monochrome to devolop form and shadows, and then glazed color over their two toned paintings to create deeper richer, often more life like work. Pretty much the same process is used in digital painting, in programs like Photoshop, Krita, and Procreate- the glazing going over several program layers instead of physical canvas!
“ Alkonost” Procreate digital painting 2020 by Anjeanette
Inspired by Viktor Vasnetsov.
Viktor Mikhailovich Vasnetsov (Виктор Михайлович Васнецов) (Lop'jal, May 15 1848— Moscow, June 23, 1926) was a Russian artist who specialized in mythological and historical subjects. He is considered a key figure of the revivalist movement in Russian art.
This painting was a journey! From simple face study to forgetting about it a few days to watching Clone Wars, to not thinking it fit the Star Wars character, to being busy another few days, to browsing Google Arts&Culture and falling in love with Viktor Vasnetsov’s oil painting “Sirin and Alkonost Birds of Joy and Sorrow. “ 1896.
Plan to paint Sirin asap
Not all of my work is created via Digital Glazing, and most def is not created to look realistic, but its pretty interesting and folks often ask! So many artists to check out who do this - just Google or Youtube search for them!
Stickers & boards- available for almost any commission
Mab’s Drawloween Club 2019
I decided to design and paint stickers for all of the Mab’s Drawloween prompts this year! This is my favorite art prompt list of the season I made a goal to fully commit. What makes it such a great great list is Mab Graves and the community of love and support surrounding her and thet supportive way the other artists build each other up. Want to make a prompt in clay, found objects, oils, dolls, straw, crayons or whatever? MAKE THAT ART SIS & BE ENCOURAGED!!!! Too tired or down to make today? Be encouraged still and tomorrow is another day to create! Plus, damn these are some killer effing artists- SO GOOD. SO much to learn and grow and be inspired by as you scroll the hashtags man.
Along the way I was inspired to do additional paintings for some of the prompts- Mab Graves and photographer Lawrence The Prince captured stunning ethereal portraits to match some of her Drawloween prompts and they were so juicy and gorgeous I couldn’t resist the urge to be inspired to paint! Those little guys are below this sticker gallery…And of course…any of my sticker designs can be made into real life sticky ass stickers just for you and your water bottle ;)
